Bed Bath & Beyond closing stores list includes Southern California stores in Burbank, Lakewood, Palmdale, Santee

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Bed Bath & Beyond a released a list of stores that will close and it includes several Southern California locations.

The company is expected to close 56 stores in the coming weeks, with the long-term plan to close 150 stores.

The four Southern California stores that will be closing soon are the following locations:

  • Burbank: 201 East Magnolia Blvd.
  • Lakewood: 75 Lakewood Mall
  • Palmdale: 39421 West 10th Street
  • Health: 9918 Mission Gorge Road
  • In August, the chain announced a restructuring that includes the closure of approximately 150 stores, layoffs and a possible stock offering.

The company said it secured more than $500 million in new funding and cut its workforce by 20%.

Although it is closing 150 namesake stores, it will retain its Buy Buy Baby chain.

Bed Bath &Beyond also said it would return to its original strategy of focusing on national brands, instead of pushing its own store brands.

A few days after the company’s announcement, Gustavo Arnal, CFO of Bed Bath & Beyond, was found dead after falling from a skyscraper in Manhattan.

A police source told CNN he jumped to his death from the 57-story skyscraper.

Bed Bath & Beyond is “deeply saddened by this shocking loss,” a company spokesperson said.

Arnal has been named a defendant in a class action lawsuit accusing him, Ryan Cohen and other major shareholders of engaging in a “pump and dump” scheme to artificially inflate the company’s stock price.
