Asia-Pacific stocks fell on Monday as investors anticipated a Fed meeting and U.S. inflation data this week.

that of Hong Kong Hang Seng Index fell 2.2% to end at 19,463.63, leading to losses in the region. The Hang Seng Tech index lost 4.05% to close at 4,192.67.

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 closed down 0.45% to settle at 7,180.8. from Japan Nikki 225 fell 0.21% to end at 27,842.33 while the Topix slipped 0.22% to 1,957.33.

South Korean reference Kospi closed 0.67% lower at 2,373.02 and the Kosdaq fell 0.59% to 715.22. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific stocks outside Japan fell 1.13%.

Mainland China Shanghai composite closed at 3,179.04 after losing 0.63%, and the Shenzhen Component was down 0.673%

On Monday, India is expected to release data on inflation and industrial production.

Later this week in the United States, the Federal Reserve is expected to begin its two day meeting tuesday. Economists widely expect the U.S. central bank to hike rates by half a percentage point on Wednesday.

The last reading for the United States consumer price index is also scheduled for Tuesday. Analysts polled by Reuters expect the index to rise 0.3% in November.
